Corporate Volunteering

Our team is passionate about collaborating with other workplaces to increase awareness and support for Young Carers.

Corporate volunteering days with Little Dreamers typically involve granting Dream Experiences for Young Carers (a.k.a Dream Granting Days), which you can read more about on this page. If you’re interested in another form of corporate volunteering with us, please let us know! We’re more than happy to tailor our opportunities to you and your workplace.

Dream Granting Day

Our Dream Granting Day gives workplaces the opportunity to spend the day planning personalised Dream Experiences for Young Carers under the guidance of Little Dreamers staff. You’ll contact organisations, prepare an itinerary for the day and receive lots of updates when the Dream you planned comes to life! This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community, whilst practising team building and amplifying company culture.

We can facilitate our Dream Granting Days at your workplace or at our Little Dreamers office in St Kilda.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Dream Experience?

Ever heard of Starlight or Make-a-wish Foundation? Whilst these charities organise amazing experiences for sick children, we work to support their siblings, or Young Carers.

When a Young Carer applies for support with Little Dreamers, we ask them for a few things they’ve always dreamt of doing. Our staff then get to work organising a one-of-a-kind experience just for them. In the past, we’ve had kids run onto the footy field with their favourite teams, attend a movie premiere with Zac Efron, learn to ski at Falls Creek and more!

What does a Dream Granting Day involve?

Our Dream Granting Day gives corporate volunteers a taste of the work that the Little Dreamers team do on a daily basis. Our friendly team will take you through the ins and outs of our organisation and what a Young Carer is in a series of team building activities – we guarantee you’ll come away equally as passionate as we are. In small teams (2 or 3), you’ll then be given the profile of a Young Carer who has recently applied for support with Little Dreamers. You’ll learn all about their caring role, interests, hobbies and family life.

Next, it’s time to get creative! Two of our facilitators will brief and guide your team through the process of organising a Dream Experience for your assigned Young Carer – including how to approach organisations, what to say, and how to prepare an itinerary. You’ll spend the remainder of the session researching and contacting organisations and drawing up a full itinerary of the Dream Experience. You’ll then present your planned Dream Experience at the conclusion of the session.

What happens next?

Following on from the session, our team will go ahead and book in the Dream Experiences you’ve planned for your Young Carer based on a date that best suits them. We’ll send you and the Young Carer a full outline of the day that you helped make happen, and keep you updated with plenty of pictures when it unfolds!

In addition, we have plenty of further opportunities to support and remain engaged with our organisation.

What other opportunities do you have for corporates?

We’re more than happy to tailor a corporate volunteering opportunity for your workplace. Additional opportunities include:

  • Skilled volunteering
  • Group mentoring (ongoing commitment)
  • Volunteering at events or Holiday Programs
  • Making dream catchers
  • Assembling Welcome Packs for Young Carers

Warm and Fuzzies

"We just wanted to thank you for a great day on Friday, Little Dreamers is such a worthwhile cause and I couldn’t stop talking to my family about it over the weekend. Good luck with the rest of the work in making the dreams that our team worked on a reality for the kids. We look forward to seeing pictures of the kids when they get to go on their well-deserved Dream Experience...All the best and on behalf of the Westpac team, thank you and you are doing great a job raising awareness for Young Carers."

"Thank you so much for providing such an AMAZING opportunity to the EY team last Friday. Everyone remarked how your team has so much passion and energy. You are making such a positive contribution to the community and should be so proud. Big claps to Ned and Miranda for facilitating, you were excellent. We certainly all left there understanding what a young carer is and these special people deserve so much."
